Enumclaw, WA, March 14, 2016—The Plateau Prostate Cancer Support Group in Enumclaw is now listed among the support groups for CHI Franciscan Health. Through its affiliation with CHI, the group will expand its reach into adjacent communities including Auburn, Black Diamond, Bonney Lake, Buckley, Federal Way and Maple Valley.

Plateau PCSG has also joined and is listed under the member support groups in the Washington State Prostate Cancer Coalition web portal, prostatewashington.org.

Meetings are held every other Thursday 6:30 to 8:00 pm at 844 Mt Villa Drive, Enumclaw. The next two meetings are scheduled March 24 and April 7, 2016.

The Group strives to provide education and support through discussion of experiences and outcomes in a safe environment ensuring privacy and anonymity. Many men tend to shut down after hearing the words “prostate cancer” for the first time, avoiding family and friends while trying to digest fully what it means to their lives. Members renew their energy and hope through, education, fellowship and information.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 man in 7 is diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer can be a serious disease, but most men diagnosed with prostate cancer do not die from it. In fact, more than 2.9 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer are alive today. 1

Contact Mike Gordon (907) 371-6448 or George Bell (360) 927-0028 for additional information.
